Lectures
Every month, Flanor hosts a lecture with an author. These lectures are very diverse. For example, we organize lectures with Dutch authors, such as Ronald Giphart (October 2019), Suzanna Jansen (April 2019), Thomas Olde Heuvelt (April 2021 and December 2023), Jacques Vriens (June 2021), and Arthur Japin (September 2022), but we've also had authors from abroad visit us, like Jeff VanderMeer (June 2020), John Flanagan (January 2021), Natalie Haynes (July 2022), and Anya Wildt (August 2024). We've also hosted many poets, both Dutch (Ellen Deckwitz, May 2019, and Groninger Dichters, January 2020) and international (David Ashford, Carsten René Nielsen, Buddy Wakefield, and Ella Frears). Occasionally, we even have popular multimedia authors, such as rapper Pepijn Lanen (2018), picture book illustrators Gwen Stok (2019) and Yoko Heiligers (2025), and YouTuber and author Aafke Romeijn (2019).
Every year, we also organize a cycle of lectuers bound to a special theme, such as the road of the book from publisher to reader (2019), resistance (2020), magic in ancient texts (2024), and the relationship between humans and animals (2025).
