Literaire Studentenvereniging Flanor

As most of you probably know, Laura van Meijeren will come to Flanor to tell something about her poetic work. Laura is the house poet of the University of Groningen, but there is a lot more to her than that. The board decided to do some online research and give you a summary of what we’ve found, so you already know a few things about her for the lecture tonight!

Aside from being the house poet, Laura is also a student at the university. According to an article published on Noordwoord on September 6th 2021, she studies communication and information sciences. She’s previously been active in the literary scene with the pseudonym Laura Mijnders and worked on projects such as Dichter bij het Verleden, a project that wants to prevent loneliness and connect young and elderly people. She also opened the academic year with her poem “Terug”. 

Laura has also written columns for the UKrant as a student columnist. However, with some deep internet research, we’ve also discovered that she’s written columns for several platforms, such as Veendammer. In an article published in UKrant, it is said that she is currently working on her first book. The poems she writes this year as a poet will be combined into a collection.
